Victorious Thinking for the Win

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

Our thoughts are rather unruly, aren’t they?

One moment we can be celebrating a teaching breakthrough, and we feel like we’re going to lose it when the class clown has a showy meltdown.

But it doesn’t have to be this way; we don’t have to live riding on the roller coaster of our ever changing emotions.

God gave you feelings and they are good, but we must watch what comes out of our mouths as our words reveal what our hearts are believing.

Thankfully the truth of our calling to be a teacher on mission, our identity as sons and daughters of the King, and who God is to us doesn’t change… and so the Word of God becomes the bedrock from which we must live our lives as Kingdom Educators!

Pastor Tiffany Fruits, who’s also a homeschool mama, has undergone some HUGE changes in her life to follow God’s calling and this has required her own upgrade into victorious thinking. In this week’s podcast she shares some very practical tips for rewiring our brains from the “mundane” way of thinking into the “all things are possible” way of thinking, and it’s by rooting ourselves on a few simple practices that alert us to the truth of God’s Word:

  1. Acknowledge the situation you find yourself in– whether it’s at work or at home.

  2. Be honest with yourself about how it’s very real.

  3. Be aware of your feelings and identity why you’re having particular responses.

  4. Hand the responses to Jesus and ask Him what He thinks.

  5. Finally, ask God what you are to do in the situation you’re in. Maybe he wants you to say something, do something, or just be. He will show you.

Just becoming aware of how we are feeling and giving those feelings to Jesus can change everything; we can trade in overwhelm for heaven’s hope-filled perspective.
