“I have given you every place on which the sole of your foot treads, just as I promised to Moses.” Joshua 1:3 AMP
Have you ever put yourself in Joshua’s shoes? His renowned leader, Moses, had just died and he was being commissioned by the Lord Almighty to lead the Israelites into their promised land. Remember just before this scene that the 10 spies had reported all the impossibilities of claiming the promised land, but Joshua and Caleb shared a different report. A hope filled report.
Joshua was called to be on mission with God; to do something that hadn’t been done before. He was to lead God’s people to inherit the land He’d promised by taking down the “giants” in the land. Joshua’s key was to hold fast to the Word of the Lord:
“No one shall stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so will I be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6Be strong and courageous, for you shall give these people the inheritance of the land that I swore to their fathers I would give them. 7Above all, be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe all the law that My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may prosper wherever you go.… ” Joshua 1:5-7
It’s so easy side with the 10 spies who came back with a negative report, rather than hold onto the PROMISE.
“My new neighboring teacher doesn’t agree with my faith so I have to be quiet. I can’t be found praying over my desks anymore. I dare not speak about Jesus at school.”
“If the Superintendent walked in and I was leading my kids in identity declarations s/he would be angry and I would be fired.”
Do you hear the fearful assumptions?
What if we showed up as Joshua and Caleb, of a different spirit, and grabbed the possibilities held within God’s promise that every place our feet tread has truly been given to us?
Hear the expectancy instead in these thoughts:
“How would praying over my classroom bless the classrooms on either side of me? What if my colleagues began to feel the ‘leak’ of Jesus leaking out of my classroom?”
“What if I prayed every day as I walked into my school and the peace and joy of the Lord overtook the performance, competition, and anxiety that once seemed to rule in our school atmosphere?”
“What if the Superintendent were to see my kids boldly declaring their identity and ask me to teach other teachers how to help their students rise up on the inside by using my Daily Affirmations List? How could this transform my school, let alone my entire school district?”
Will you put on your Hope-Filled Lenses for the 2024-25 school year?
Kingdom Educators is all about walking with you as we seek first His Kingdom because we believe that’s where all we need will be added to us (Matthew 6:33). And we truly believe all things are possible for those who believe (Mark 9:23).
With that said, what do you expect to happen through you partnered with Jesus in your classroom this school year?
