Anyone else noticing the climate in our schools changing as we we’ve past spring break, tune our ears toward the legislative changes to the Department of Education, and look forward to summer break?
In the middle of all these transitions, it’s important to note that we as Kingdom Educators have been given the keys (that Jesus won!!!) to bind confusion and loose peace and clarity in our classrooms. We’re not victims and we’re definitely not meant to be passive bystanders.
Jesus who resides inside you can alter the atmosphere and reset the tone in your classroom at any moment of the day… no matter what! All we need to do is call upon Him.
Simple Steps
As a thermostat, I invite you to begin your day by inviting the Holy Spirit to come and have His way in the school, the office, and your classroom. I encourage you to lift a song of thankfulness and praise as you drive to work and begin praying as you leave your car and enter the school. If you have a prayer language use it as you walk the halls, pass different departments as you make your way to your classroom. Watch how your partnership in prayer shifts your school atmosphere.
Pray the scriptures!
We know the Word of God is powerful (see Hebrews 4:12) & it gives us discernment to see from God’s perspective.
1 Timothy 1:7 KJV says: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind.”
Ask the Holy Spirit how to pray specifically for your students. He wants to give you insight about their behaviors and their hearts. He wants to use you as a key to unlock what they need. And it doesn’t have to be hard! It’s all about partnering with Life Himself (John 1:1) and being present to respond to His voice.
You are a conduit of His very presence! The goodness of God can’t help but leak out of you when you set your affections on Jesus and intentionally attune your ear to His heart.
