Trusting God in the Stretch: A Kingdom Educator Reminder That Nothing Is Wasted

There are seasons in teaching that feel especially heavy.

You’re still showing up.
Still pouring out.
Still doing what you know you’re called to do.

And yet… you’re tired.

Maybe you’ve found yourself wondering lately:
“Did this year even make a difference?”

If that question has crossed your mind, you’re not alone—and you’re not off track.

When the Stretch Feels Real

As we step into Teacher Appreciation Week, there’s often a mix of emotions.

Yes, there’s gratitude…
but there’s also exhaustion.

This time of year can feel like what some call “May-cember”—full, fast, and overwhelming.

And in the middle of it, the enemy can begin to whisper:

  • “It didn’t matter.”
  • “You didn’t do enough.”
  • “This isn’t working.”

But those thoughts aren’t truth.

Lifting Your Eyes Changes Everything

When things feel unclear, the invitation isn’t to strive harder—it’s to lift your eyes.

Psalm 121 reminds us:
“I lift my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord…”

When we lift our eyes, our perspective shifts.
When our perspective shifts, our heart follows.

You remember:

  • He is your source
  • He is your strength
  • He is not wasting anything

You’re Building and Battling

The story of Nehemiah paints a powerful picture for us as educators.

He was called to rebuild in a system that didn’t honor God.
He faced opposition, criticism, and discouragement.

And yet—he kept building.

Scripture tells us they worked with one hand and held a weapon in the other.

Does that sound familiar?

Because that’s what teaching often feels like:

  • You’re building culture
  • You’re pouring into students
  • You’re carrying truth
  • And you’re battling at the same time

But here’s the encouragement:

God’s gracious hand was on Nehemiah—and it’s on you too.

You Already Have What You Need

Sometimes we think:
“If I just had more time… more energy… more support…”

But what if God is saying:
“Trust Me with what’s already in your hands.”

You don’t need more to move forward.
You need to trust Him in the stretch.

Even in the moments where you think:
“I don’t want to be here…”

God is still working.

Nothing Is Wasted

Romans 8:28 reminds us:
God is working all things together for good.

Not some things.
Not just the easy things.
All things.

The stretching.
The pressing.
The unseen moments.

He is using it.
