“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” Colossians 3:1-2 Message
COMING IN HOT…. Apostle Paul is calling us out to keep our eyes on Christ and all that’s around Him (Heavenly Realities)– because that’s where the action is. The ESV might be more familiar: “If then you have been raised with Christ, see the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” (ESV)
Our self-talk reflects what our minds are dwelling on which becomes our perspective… that pivotal place of whether or not we’re setting the thermostat for truth and life around us.
You are a thermostat, Kingdom Educator, and not a thermometer. You set the temperature in your classroom, the hallways, the office... everywhere you go.
Whether you realize it or not, the things that you believe are actually impacting your sphere of influence. The attitude with which you speak, the way you approach your planning, paperwork, email, calendar, and the ways you respond to others are influencing your students, colleagues, and administrators each day.
How you choose to carry the spirit of Jesus inside you either attracts people or it repels them.
All of those attitudes are really fueled by how you see yourself. My prayer is that the Lord would upgrade you to a higher place so you believe you’re a Kingdom influencer and your approach to work will be out of a truer view of how Jesus sees you and your mighty calling to transform lives through your position.
Our declarations this week:
- I can hear God’s voice for myself and others. I speak it out and I witness lives changing.
- I believe God called me into this position and He’s already using me in mighty ways.
- I am called to these particular students at this particular time in history to invest in them and it’s a gift from God.
- I know what it is that I’m depositing this year in my school community and it is my privilege to be able to give away what God has put in me and to call out purpose and destiny every day as I hear His heartbeat for the ones I’m ministering to.
I want to challenge you to watch the conversation in your head. Pay attention to what you are hearing and speaking to yourself, even in your mind. It’s time to set your mind about yourself on things above.
You’ll start to look differently and you’ll start to physically walk and move differently because you’re starting to align yourself with the truth God speaks about you. Ask Him, “what are the things that I need to be saying over myself?”
I know for me during this season, I am revisiting how much God loves me. It’s so simple, but His love is so deep, high, and wide (see Ephesians 3:18). All of creation is waiting for the sons and daughters of God to wake up to who they are (see Revelation 8:19)! The world needs us to be the called out ones (see Romans 12:2)– to know the love of God, our gift of righteousness, and God’s admiration for us.
He says, “that’s my one that I made. I wait for her/him to wake up every morning just so that I can be with them. There’s nothing that you can do to earn my love.
So ask God to help you receive His love in your depths– to truly know you are fully treasured, you’re the apple of His eye, that no matter what you do, His love for you is never going to change.
