Have you ever struggled to rest?You may even be asking ‘what is rest anyway?’… Maybe you’re joking, or maybe you’ve seriously lost the idea of rest somewhere along the lines of this whole ‘being on mission at school.’
In a world that seems to capitalize on being busy… it’s hard to find space to rest. We have to schedule it, or it doesn’t happen.
But God designed us to rest. He modeled that in the Garden by creating man and then resting. Think about that. We were created and then God rested. He invites us into rest.
Rest can look different for each of us depending on how we are wired. For some it might look like cooking for fun, hiking a mountain, hosting a game night, or lounging at the beach. It’s hard to put a rule on what Sabbath rest looks like, but the main thing is responding to God’s call to rest from our work.
Spend some time asking Him today how resting looks for you in this particular season of your life. How would He have you unplug from your work to just “be” one day a week.For some of us, including me, rest time requires planning… so give yourself grace as you ease into making rest “your weapon” of rejuvenating for each new week.
