Give Me the Practicals!

“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 ESV
One of the best ways we can build healthy boundaries is by setting ourselves up for success with a regular time with Jesus by diving into the Word of God.

Now sometimes we can jump straight to performance mode when someone mentions personal time with God. We critique our own quiet time with a fine comb, or beat ourselves up for not making time with God one of our biggest priorities. Or maybe you’re like me and it can feel like if it’s not “x” amount of time, it’s not long enough to count.

But the truth is… no one is perfect at “alone time with God.”

Have you exhaled with relief yet? [Here is your permission to do so.]

I remember a few years back hearing a ministry school leader saying that time with God could look different every day and I felt a weight come off my shoulders. I think I’d somehow made “quiet time” a part of my daily checklist, rather than my time to be filled up with the truth that reminded of my identity and my purpose. It was then that I was able to toss aside the prescribed way of connecting with the One who really wanted to speak to me through His spirit and His word.So wherever you are with thinking about your daily time with God and digging into the truth of His word, know that He is wild about you and just wants to wash over you with His truth that breaks the heavy yokes (see John 8:32). He wants to fill you with more of Himself so that you have the strength, tenacity, and vision to carry out your mighty call to be a Teacher on Mission. And if you’d like to press into some scriptures about the faith-rest life, you should spend some time in Hebrews 4-6 (Passion Translation!!). I’ve been meditating on these chapters and inviting the Holy Spirit to show me how to pray into holding onto confident faith for the promises over my life and yours.Praying for You to Finish Strong,Jesica GloverHebrews 4:1-3″1Now the promise of entering into God’s rest is still for us today. So we must be extremely careful to ensure that we all embrace the fullness of that promise and not fail to experience it. 2For we have heard the good news of deliverance just as they did, yet they didn’t join their faith with the Word. Instead, what they heard didn’t affect them deeply, for they doubted. 3For those of us who believe, faith activates the promise and we experience the realm of confident rest! …”
