Beacon of Light

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’ ” John 8:31-32

Has you ever felt like you had to teach curriculum that only revealed one side of the story?I know I did… literature, history, middle school math… and even with our late elementary puberty lessons. One of our values here at Kingdom Educators is to promote curriculum that is infused with TRUTH… whether it’s covert (for those of us in public school) or overtly bible-based. We believe that you, as the educator, play a powerful role in selecting what you teach your students and if there is anyway we can help you connect your students with the person of Truth (Jesus– See John 1), then we will… because you may just find yourself with the favor to influence school, or even districtwide curriculum decisions!!Last month I had the honor of reviewing Beacon of Light’s “Check the Facts” curriculum used in public, private, and homeschools across the U.S. which offers a totally unique, comprehensive sexual health curriculum free from the over-sexualized content and unbalanced messaging typically found in standard school curricula. I was so impressed I asked to interview Amber Auger from Beacon of Light, who oversees this curriculum project, and I was even more impressed!! LISTEN HERE to hear the incredible curriculum backstory.

Tell Me More
Check the Facts is designed to give students fact-based, balanced education on sexual health without promoting risky behaviors. Beacon of Light’s Mission is to prevent the lifelong emotional, physical, and relational consequences of engaging in sexual activity at a young age. Instead they provide fact-based education over the course of 10-days (public school) that empowers teens to make informed, healthy decisions. This program covers essential topics, including:
-Anatomy
-Conception and Fetal Development -Identity and Stereotypes
-Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
-Boundaries
-Social Media Awareness and Safety
-Healthy Relationships
-Finding and Identifying Trusted Adults
-And so much more…

Connect
Check the Facts content is ready to go, but they need financial support to bring these engaging and impactful resources to life with quality videography. If you’d like to help Beacon of Light’s curriculum continue to empower young people with the education they need to make informed, healthy choices, consider helping on ONE of these 3 ways:

  • Donate to help Beacon of Light create their 10 Jr High & 10 High School videos for home use for parents and teens, homeschoolers, and as an alternative for those who “opt out” of sex education in public schools across America.
  • Be Notified when Beacon of Light’s Curriculum Videos Drop
  • Contact: amber@beaconof-light.org, or visit beaconof-light.org to learn more about how to get your hands on this curriculum

We hope this curriculum introduction may be of use to you as you continue to empower young people with the education they need to make informed, healthy choices.

Blessings in Christ,

Jesica Glover
